How to sell used clothes online in Egypt
Selling clothes online in Egypt used to mean a Facebook group, a stranger, and a meeting somewhere neither of you wanted to be. That has changed. Listing a piece takes five minutes, and a few simple choices can have it sold within days.
With more than fifty thousand listings on Libsy, the pattern behind the fastest sales is unmistakable. It comes down to three things, and all three are easy.
Take at least three photos, in daylight
Nothing else you can do comes close. A well-photographed piece sells dramatically faster than the same piece shot in a dark room, and photos are what turn a listing into a sale.
Better still, the effort caps out fast. Three or four clear photos in natural light is all it takes, and beyond six you are adding nothing. Five minutes is genuinely enough.
Shoot against a plain wall, turn the overhead light off and use a window. Include the label, and photograph any mark or wear honestly. A small flaw mentioned up front rarely stops a sale.
Price it for the buyer, not for what you paid
Price is the lever you control, and it works fast. Well-priced pieces sell far quicker, and the effect is immediate at every level: even a small reduction can move a piece straight away.
The median asking price on Libsy is EGP 500, and that is exactly where the demand is. Price near it and your piece lands in front of the widest possible audience.
Give it a month
Most sales happen within the first month, and plenty land within days. A quiet first week means nothing, and pieces keep selling long after.
Leaving a listing up costs nothing at all. And if something has been quiet for a while, a small price adjustment is the quickest way to move it.
Start with accessories
Bags, shoes and jewellery sell fastest of all, and they are the easiest to photograph and cheapest to deliver. Start there for a quick first sale, then add clothing once you have the hang of it.
The short version
- Three photos in daylight. More than six adds little.
- Price competitively. It is the fastest route to a sale, every time.
- Give a listing a month. Most sales land inside one.
- Answer messages. Buyers usually ask before they buy.
All figures come from Libsy's own listing data as of August 2026. Sell-through is measured only on listings at least 90 days old, so a piece posted last week is not counted as unsold. Prices are what the seller sets, before the buyer-side fee.
